We are all looking forward to the game with Liverpool this weekend but Dave Nugent is looking forward to it more than others as he has told The News.

The lifelong Everton fan cannot wait to face Liverpool – hopefully he gets this chance, unless he already knows something we don’t? – and would love nothing more than to open his account against them: ‘Liverpool – I can’t wait for that one. It’ll be a cup final for me.

‘I’m a lifelong Everton fan, so I’d love the chance to score at Anfield.

‘Liverpool fans come from all over the world. Everton’s fans tend to be drawn more locally – that’s why they call it the people’s club.

‘It would be unbelievable to get off the mark in the league against them. It would be nice to put one over them’.

As I say I really hope that Nugent gets this chance as he has really impressed in the last couple of games he has played as a sub, so he must be getting closer and closer to actually getting that chance again…

Once again he also stressed that he is happy with Pompey and feels things are going okay for him: ‘I’ve started two games in the league and haven’t scored. Apart from that it’s been coming on as sub.

‘I’m sure when I get a few more chances a Premier League goal will come. But I’m happy enough with how things are going at the moment’.

The more I hear from the fella the more I am liking his attitude, it would be great if he can at least get some playing time against Liverpool, even if it is unlikely that he will be given a start. A goal would be special for him personally as well as us – did Liverpool not also release him as a kid?
