Now to see what CSI are made of

Whilst we now know the ‘uncertainty’ surrounding the CSI takeover is over, as they have completed this, whilst it was uncertain, for whatever reason, you could understand – to a degree – why moves for players were not really being made.

That said surely with or without that takeover there must, or at least should have, have been budget in place for next season, a budget that ‘might’ now be greater with CSI coming in, but even without this we should have been able to sort deals, certainly those that were free agents?

So its essential, even more so with this deal now going through, that we soon start sorting things out because we know what will happen if we do not!

Déjà vu once more…

Quite clearly Balram Chainrai would have retained Steve Cotterill, so I was left kind of asking myself the question ‘maybe’ CSI were not looking to do this?

Although I am sure that they are but it was/is possible that their plans did not include him, as said though I am sure that they do…

This could have been preventing signatures being collected on incoming players and also, to be fair players, they would not want to put their signature in place until they knew who they would be playing for and what the clubs future plans were, it is more than feasible that this was/is a major factor.

CSI are now in place the deals in place for ‘players waiting in the wings’ need to be concluded sooner rather than later now to get the new owners’ Fratton reign off to a good start.

I do not think that we should expect, or even want, ‘major investment’ ploughed into the playing side of things as if we see loads of money thrown at players – both in their fees and wages we give them – then we will see déjà vu on that side of things too…

There are free agents out there, some we already have lined up by all accounts so lets bring them in and also, if the price is right and with what they are asking for salary wise, bring back those loanees that Cotterill wants to.

Lets not ‘dilly dally’ around this summer, lets get the squad in place sooner rather than later.

This would go some way – assuming they do it the right way – that CSI genuinely do have a decent plan in mind and really are looking to do their best for PFC, and of course will give themselves the opportunity to do right by themselves – again within reason and them not ‘fleecing’ us – too if all goes according to their plan.

We need to give CSI a chance to prove their worth but they will also be needing to prove that they are here to look after this clubs best interests and starting to rebuild this squad, on a sensible budget, as quickly as possible will do a long way to appeasing the Fratton natives…
