No unrest at Pompey

Pompey have quashed talk that Lassana Diarra’s arrival has caused unrest among other members of the squad.

It is reported that he is on £50,000 per week – a figure that the club deny – and this amount is something that others are ‘said’ to be unhappy about, but Pompey spokesman Gary Double has told The News this is rubbish and he is already a popular member of the squad: ‘it’s absolute rubbish. Complete nonsense.

‘Lassana played excellently on his debut and he will be a popular member of the squad.

‘Let’s just concentrate on the football rather than this rubbish’.

Clearly the fella is on good money, but you get what you pay for, but once you start giving one big money others soon want this – but you would like to think that players are not ‘envious’ as they all get more than enough as it is…

His signing does show the ambition that we are showing, and the further we move forward the more likely it is we will get this type of player signing and when they come in they will be on very good money – you cannot have one without the other.
