Nicke gets his Shot

As expected, Nicke Kabamba completed another loan exit away from Fratton Park when he joined Aldershot on Friday – following a previous spell with Colchester – until the end of the season.

Kabamba, who has clearly found it harder to adapt to the Football League than his former Hampton & Richmond Borough teammate Jamal Lowe, made a dream start to his Aldershot spell as he scored against Dover Athletic on Saturday.

His goal – having scored 40 goals in 80 games for Hampton previously – was a first since joining Pompey in January, making six appearances for the Blues and another 10 during his spell at Colchester this season. It proved the winner for Shots in their National League victory, further boosting promotion hopes.

Does he still have a future at Fratton? In all honesty I am not sure. If pushed I would have to say I do not think so, but we’ll see. I believe his contract expires at the end of the season so Kabamba, 24, most definitely needs to catch the eye – if this doesn’t extend his spell with the Blues it would earn him a deal elsewhere.
