Another feature, again courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, sees us look at those Pompey personalities – past or present – who have a birthday on this day.

7/1/1982: Paul Robinson
7/1/1985: Wayne Routledge
7/1/1991: Adam Barton

From the Ed

Happy birthday to Paul Robinson, Wayne Routledge and Adam Barton – the Pompey players from the Blues’ past born on this day.

Robinson, Routledge and Barton have all played for us in recent years – of course Robinson and most recently Barton – so I recall them all.

Robinson, the Pompey captain at the time, was a player many would have kept when he was allowed to leave. Routledge was probably least effective – of this trio – during his loan at Fratton Park. As for Barton, he had his moments but a move to Scotland gave him his opportunity for regular football he couldn’t secure on the South Coast.

Now onto the games previously played.

Played – 15
Won – 7
Drawn – 4
Lost – 4

I recall the string of FA Cup games in the 1990s – some better than others – as well as the cup win at Ipswich in 2006. However, it is another blank day for me as I’ve not managed to attend a game.

What are your memories of Robinson, Routledge and/or Barton from their Pompey days? Also have you taken in any of the games previously played today – if so what are the memories from them too?
