Knowing who we face

At the moment we are still someway from knowing who the ‘we’ that I refer to, in as much as the personnel we will have, will be for PFC but we now know who will be in the no power championship next season as all the relegation and promotion issues in England are now resolved.

Following the league one play-off final on Sunday and the championship one today we now know that the matches against Peterborough, who beat Huddersfield, and Reading, who lost to Swansea, will take place.

Blackpool and Birmingham, on a dramatic final day in the premier league season, joined West Ham in being relegated and the trio join us in the second tier of English football.

All in all these issues being resolved open up a lot more options to ‘new grounds’ for me personally next season!

Blackpool, given the few meetings that have taken place in recent times, will come as no real surprise to hear that I have not done Bloomfield Road before although it might that St Andrews and Upton Park have never been grounds I have managed to get to before, so all 3 clubs coming down from the top-flight give me options and I would hope to get to most, if not all, if I can afford them…

Peterborough coming up offers me a chance of adding London Road to the list, and again if the pennies allow me I would like to?

Reading is a nice one for all in Pompey to do, so I guess a lot will be happy to keep another local(ish) fixture on the list – even for us Devon boys this is a nice fairly quick an easy, and all in all, relatively cheap (apart from the beer consumption) day out.

Brighton, Scum, West Ham, Blackpool, Birmingham and Peterborough being added to the fixture list with Sheffield United, Scunthorpe, Preston, QPR, Norwich and Swansea taken off, all in all, is not bad from a geographical viewpoint from the Pompey fans’ point of view is it really?
