Kanu talk nothing but rubbish

Harry Redknapp has told The News that the talk ‘linking’ Kanu with a move to Australia as a ‘load of cobblers’: ‘I think talk of Australia is just a lot of cobblers, though.

‘I think he wants to stay here. The lad seems to be happy and I don’t want him to go anywhere, he’s been terrific for me.

‘He’s out of contract at the end of the year. But I want him to stay here – and I think he wants to stay.’

With Kanu only needing to play a couple more games to earn his new contract, unless we can somehow ‘break’ this deal then I do not think there is much Redknapp has to worry about to be honest…

Despite saying that he is not wanting Kanu to leave Redknapp did admit that he would not stand in his way if he did want to go: ‘I wouldn’t stand in Kanu’s way, not if he wants to go. It’s like everything, if he wanted to leave us you can’t force him not to.

‘You can’t work like that.

‘If he wanted to go I could not stop him, I could not keep him here. I’ve never done that. You don’t want unhappy players.

As said, with the his extension about to kick in any minute now it would appear that the only way this deal could now be broken is if Kanu himself decides not to honour this agreement… and after all the fuss he kicked up to get a 2 year contract in the first place, after agreeing the compromise he virtually has this now anyway, so I cannot see him now turning this down – can you?
