Quite what the actual number of games that it was that Kanu had to take part in to activate his contract extension is anyone’s guess, the original thought was 20, then 25 but whatever the ‘suggestion’ now is that he has now done enough and he will be staying with us again next season.

Kanu is happy to stay with Pompey but does not want to be a bit part player but if all goes according to plan then I could see at least one new striker arrive this summer, and if this striker does arrive then starting regularly next season could be difficult for him? Well you would suspect anyway?

Kanu is a wonderful talent but for too much of this season I do not feel that he has been utilised as best he might have been, too often in my opinion has he been left on the pitch for far too long when a change could have seen more of an impact from someone off the bench, and not enough has he been used from the bench himself, but when he has he has more often than not made an impact – hence why I think he is best used that way.

Harry Redknapp clearly loves the fella and wants to keep him and from the looks of things, well according to ‘reports’ coming out anyway his new contract has been activity for next season. So unless he decides to move on it looks like he will be here again for another year.
