Nigeria faced the prospect of being humiliatingly eliminated from the African nations at the group stages but managed to get through tonight after beating Benin 2-0, as Mali were thumped 3-0 by the Ivory Coast.
However as a result Nigeria now face Ghana on Sunday – so by Monday morning we know for sure that John Utaka and Kanu from the Nigerian camp or Sulley Muntari from the Ghanaian will be on their way back to Pompey.
As much as I think Muntari coming back would be the best option at the moment despite our need for a striker, I hope that Ghana can progress to be honest.
Papa Bouba Diop and Senegal face almost certain elimination on Thursday so he could be back by the weekend, but even if he is it would be unlikely that he would be back in time to face Chelsea.
