Jamo – England’s no.1…

…by the looks of it…

David James is being ‘tipped’ to stake his claim to be the England no.1 that he should have already been for the past couple of season, as Fabio Capello is expected to name him in goal for the friendly with Switzerland tonight.

The 37 year old appears to have a chance to prove that his age will not be a hindrance for him, and now has his chance to start making himself the no.1 ahead of the world cup qualifying campaign.

My own thinking is there is no reason at all why James cannot go on up to and including the world cup finals in 2010 as the no.1 as he is as fit and agile as ever, and in my honest opinion better than he has ever been!

Regulars to Vital Pompey will know that when we have an away fixture we run a ‘live feature’, where the teams are announced and we then discus the game as it goes along – however we are following it. ‘Should’ James be confirmed in the starting 11 – and hopefully Jermain Defoe a place on the bench – I was thinking of doing this tonight, so hopefully some of you will join in?

Either way this feature will be happening at the weekend when we travel to Bolton, speaking of which if you have not already made your predictions in the Pompey predictions league on this game do it here
