Hart coy, yet hopeful, about Finnan

Image for Hart coy, yet hopeful, about Finnan

There have been conflicting views on Steve Finnan recently, with accounts varying. Some ‘reports’ say he does not want to leave Espanyol, others are saying that an arrangement is being looked at to terminate the Republic of Ireland internationals contract?

Either way, Paul Hart has told The News that he is ‘hopeful’ that a deal can be agreed with the right back: ‘we are interested in Finnan and are hoping something can happen on that one soon.

‘There are a few things need clearing up. That’s all I want to say right now.’

To be honest I am slightly concerned about his ability to remain injury free, and the fact that he is, what 33-years-old? That said quality, experience and players that do want to play for us is what will be needed this season!

Quality – this is clearly something that the guy has, or at last had, hopefully the ‘had’ part does not come into play.

Experience – again, clearly something that he has.

Wanting to play for us – time will tell on that score!

All-in-all, so as long as can stay injury-free I reckon he would make a good signing, and as it stands it would appear that he will be available on a free?
