Jonas Gutierrez was linked with Pompey towards the end of last week, but Real Mallorca insisted they wanted to keep hold of him – and he said he would stay, as he still will if needed.

Now the Argentine winger, better known is Spain as ‘spider-man’ has claimed in the Spanish press that a move for him has been made by Pompey ‘the offer has arrived and now I am studying this subject.

‘If it was positive for all parties we would close the accord, because footballers have short careers and it is important to make the right decisions.

‘But if the transfer is not possible I would stay in Mallorca without problems because I am a professional’.

He sounds like a colourful character and Harry Redknapp is after another winger, but with it pointed out during the week, is another left sided player really be a priority – would another striker not be a higher priority?

Something that really concerns me though is the fact that he is co-owned by Real Mallorca and Argentine club Velez Sarsfield – these split ownership issues can be complicated, difficult and even suspect affairs.
