Dejan Stefanovic has lost the Pompey captaincy to Sol Campbell, but how will this impact on his Pompey future?

The claims in the Sunday People are that Rangers could be looking at him for £1m.

It is an interesting one, he is still the club captain but he has hardly featured in pre season and was not even on the bench for the match at the weekend – the first match since Campbell was confirmed as the new captain.

Campbell, Sylvain Distin and Linvoy Primus will be ahead of him for a central defensive start, with Hermann Hreidarsson and quite possibly – as much as I did not think I would ever hear myself say this – Djimi Traore in front of him for a left back place – so he has got his work cut out this season.

As much as the decision was right to remove the captains armband from him, as his first team opportunities will be limited, from a selfish point of view keeping him would be something I would prefer but with the reality that the books need to be balanced and with time against him, Pompey might want to cash in, if not he might see it as time to seek a new challenge?

Even if he did go though, my thinking would still be that he would join Milan Mandaric at Leicester.
