Image for Grant reflects on a rare win

Avram Grant was once again unable to hide his emotion at the weekend as he leapt over the advertising hoardings and into the crowd, ok maybe not leapt more climbed after the win at Burnley.

As he told The Pompey Site it is now all about pride: ‘it’s about pride and spirit. It’s about showing that football is stronger than anything: any administration, any court, any decision of the Premier League.

‘Everything that happened recently has been emotional. I’m proud of this because football is about passion and emotion, it’s not about money.

‘These fans are wonderful and the city is amazing. We don’t deserve what’s happened.

‘But we need to show on the pitch what we can do despite of everything, and the players have been amazing. I’m very proud of them. We’re still playing good football – better than the other teams at the bottom.’

So, his pride for the club and the fans was more than clear, although he of course also said that he we was proud of the players, they are also showing their fighting spirit and he wants this to carry on: ‘I’m very proud of the players that despite everything they scored two goals, played good football and won the game.

‘First we will show our pride and spirit, and second we will try to play positive football.’

I was seriously worried after the missed penalty that we would not get the chance to win this game, which we deserved to – but thankfully we did!

Not bad for a ‘meaningless match’ was it…
