Grant on Manyoo defeat

So, Avram Grant unsurprisingly started with a defeat – although losing 4-1 might have been a little ‘harsh’ against Manyoo, that said they did what we failed to do, they TOOK the chances that presented themselves to them…

Grant felt it was a ‘strange game’ as analysis of it would show that the scoreline might not have been quite as reflective of the game as it suggests, so he was happy with the amount of chances we created against the current premier league champions – feeling we probably had more than ‘better teams’ would have created – but knows we have to put them away!

See his views on the above and more, including thoughts on both keepers, the ‘penalties’ and our upcoming league cup game, in this sky sports video below…

All in all it was a case of same Pompey different opponents, well same Pompey different manager – you could have written the 2nd half script I guess, right? We have a really good 1st half but failure to take chances would cost us in the 2nd half, as it did!

I hope that Grant does take the league cup seriously; from the sounds of it I am not sure how much that will actually meant to him?

Until we take the chances we are creating, and at least the keeper actually did make 2 or 3 very good saves to deny us – so we worked him – we do not have a hope in hell of getting out of the bottom 3, which in all honesty, and lets be honest – not that I am giving up of course, is almost getting to the point now where it just will not be possible anyway as we are virtually as a stage now where we have to win half our games, realistically can we do that…
