Going down, but on their way up?

The coming weeks are going to (probably, and realistically out of necessity!) see ‘the decks cleared’ at Portsmouth Football Club.

Player departures in these ‘coming weeks’, and not months, are essential as we literally only have weeks left as a club!

Any monies that can be saved, well cut from the wage bill, would be a welcome relief and if transfer fees can be agreed even better as this money is then put towards the running costs of PFC.

Some players we would like to keep whereas others you would have a mass of volunteers to physically take them to the train station to get them to their next destination (if not even drive them personally!)

A couple of those in the ‘we would like to keep’ mould include Jason Pearce and Joel Ward.

These players were meant to be ‘our future’ but unfortunately without the needs must moves of offloading them then there probably will not be a future, at least as PFC as we currently know it.

Pearce was meant to be off to Leeds and Ipswich have stalked Ward for months, so Portman Road was his destination – although ‘rumour has it’ today that it could actually be Ipswich’s Anglian rivals Norwich that could take both players?

‘Reports’ are starting to surface that the premier league outfit are considering making a double move for them and the chance of a place at a premier league club may well soften the blow for them of having to leave Fratton Park.

In all honesty, whilst I think one day they could be, I am not convinced at this point in time that they are of premier league standard but what an opportunity this could be for them both ‘if’ the move comes about?

One think that I am pretty sure of though is that under Paul Lambert they would be given every chance to show that they are at home in the topflight…
