Fergie, Carlos Queiroz and Cristiano Ronaldo have all been very outspoken about the ‘grievances’ they feel the suffered at the weekend, with Ronaldo saying: ‘sometimes I say this is the best league in the world, but sometimes they don’t protect the skilful players.

‘After what happened to the Arsenal player Eduardo da Silva, I am scared to do my skills.

‘The referee against Portsmouth was unbelievable. In the first five minutes, there were three fouls and he took no action and then he failed to give a penalty. It’s difficult to play like this.

‘It’s a joke. So often, there were fouls and the referee did nothing’.

Of course he – and the others that are whinging – is right, how dare anyone, particularly ‘the little Portsmouth’ go to Old Trafford and prevent him, and United as a whole ripping the opponents to shreds, we should be ashamed of ourselves!

As for giving nothing, come on how often was he, and United overall being given things?

We ruffled them be getting in their faces, they did not like that, something which we have been guilty of not doing enough against them at Old Trafford before, we are usually too nice and pay far too much respect to them – at our cost.

The thing that goes against Ronaldo mostly is his diving, which granted is not as bad as it was, but he does not help himself does he? Those that have a ‘history’ of this type of thing can often see a case of ‘crying wolf’ once to often go against them.

It appears quite clear that Ronaldo seems to share Sepp Blatter’s thoughts that football should basically be a ‘non contact’ sport?

Sylvain Distin however has hit back at Ronaldo’s claims by telling The News: ‘if every time you touch a player it is a penalty, then how do you defend?

‘Football has to have some contact. I don’t think he pushed the ball past me and I moved my body to stop his run.

‘He pushed the ball, I followed the ball and it was shoulder against shoulder. If you can’t tackle from behind, you can’t do this, you can’t do that, then you never defend.

‘If he is coming towards me one against one, I am not going to move out of the way for him.

‘I try to defend. All of the United fans thought it was a penalty, all of the Portsmouth fans and me will think it’s not.

‘For me, it was fair.’

You have ‘seen them given’, but I think Distin is basically right – all United fans think is was a penalty, all Pompey fans think not.

I have seen it several times now, as I say I have seen them given, really it is one of those that you are happy to get but feel aggrieved if it goes against you – some more aggrieved than others?
