I know what is said, and what actually does happen can often be different things but just last week – I think it was last week, they all seem to merge into one these days! – did Paul Groves not say that he was ‘100% committed to Pompey?’

As said, this does not necessarily make it so, as circumstances can change but his thoughts were as long as Pompey WANTED him, he WOULD stay.

So, this begs the question WHY has Admin Andy felt the need to voice his opinion that he fears Groves departure?

Has he told him something else in private, although if Groves wanted to go why would he have publicly committed himself, so vocally, as he did – as said, what is said and done is not always the same thing – not too long again.

Saying you will stay as long as you are wanted where you are ‘should’ be the end of a matter, right?

Talking our CVA and making sure this is as solid as possible, and behind the scenes and not publicly, is the priority at the moment and that is what the guy should be doing so I do question the relevance of talking to The News about Groves, or many things at this point, when the guy ‘seemed’ to spell out his own future anyway.

A cynic would think that we are almost ‘inviting offers’ for him, for the compensation amount, as we are not getting the offers for players that were expected…
