So, we have some 15 players out of contract in the summer (or seeing their loans with Pompey end) it is almost time to decide who deserves a new contract and who does not deserve the drippings from my nose, well ours noses!
I was going to look at them all together, but I think I will do them one at a time… Simple question, and as the bearded one would say, ‘deal or no deal?’

Another that I think ‘could have’ done a job to help but his back injury has robbed him of this chance of showing what he can do – the arrival of others that can play down the left also worked against him.
He looked lively in his debut against Manyoo, and it left me thinking ‘we could be onto something here’ with a player that could be used on the right or left, he is a left winger but is a right footed player.
To be honest I think he tried to come back from the initial back problem too soon, and his reserve outings caused even more damage have probably just about ended his season, and possible Pompey career – potentially career full stop, but hopefully not?
Deal or no deal? Deal.
This might come as a surprise, but as he is still relatively young, so if he can prove that he is over his back problems in the summer I would give him another deal – maybe a short term 6-month, or a 12-month maximum deal with the option to a longer one…
I want to make it clear that I am not saying that he deserves a deal, far from it, but I feel that there is ability in him to make him a useful player in the squad – giving him another short period with the club, basically an extended trial, gives him the chance to prove himself. It could be an appearance based one, where he have little to lose by offering minimal wages, which rises based on performances/appearances?
