Cranie to go out on loan

According to skysports.com Martin Cranie could be returning to the Championship – having left this league when he switched from the Saints to Pompey in the summer – by joining QPR on loan.

Struggling QPR, who this week sacked former Pompey boss John Gregory – sends a shiver down my spine just thinking about it! – have put Mick Harford in temporary charge – although Pompey no.2 Tony Adams has been linked with the post, but this would seem highly unlikely – with it believed that they see the England U21 defender as a man to help sort out their abysmal defence.

Cranie, who was on Thursday called up again for the U21s would benefit from such a move as he is not that likely to play much for us this season is he? But I think the fella has a massive future ahead of him so in a year or so I can see him making a fullback position his own, even if it might not necessarily be on the right?

Also, Pompey have further strengthened the youth at the club with the signing of Millwall youngster Tom Kibley.

The 16 year old midfielder joins our Academy for an undisclosed amount only 4 months into his 2 year scholarship contract.

This will clearly annoy Millwall boss Willie Donachie who has been very put out with the amount of young Millwall stars being courted by Premier league clubs.
