Our search for a right winger was inevitably going to at some point lead us to ‘links’ with Shaun Wright-Phillips, and although these links took a lot longer than I suspected they would these have finally come about…

The Sun is today running the story, saying that Harry Redknapp is preparing a ‘£10m cut-price move’ to bring him to Pompey as our first summer signing to end his Chelski misery.

Chelski shelled out £22m to sign him from Citeh but he has been unable to repeat the form he showed for them and it is ‘claimed’ that Redknapp wanted to sign both Jermain Defoe and Wright-Phillips had he taken over at Newcastle. This did not happen as he stayed here, but he did get Defoe to finally come to Pompey and now he is apparently looking to add Wright-Phillips.

Do I think this move will happen?

I honestly do not know, but what I do know is I would not be against it at all as if Wright-Phillips is given a consistent run in any side I am convinced that we would see the kind of form that he showed at Citeh – and that would lead to him scoring his fair share, as well as creating many more…
