Coppell a win-win situation?

Just some 36-hours, or so, ago Steve Coppell was the ‘latest favourite set’ for the Pompey job…

Now Michael Appleton is that man, or is he?

Truth is no one, and quite literally no one, knows what is going on!!

WOTS of this came through to Vital Pompey Towers last night: ‘I wish I could tell you so you’ll **** off and leave me alone but the way things are hanging at the mo we don’t have a Scooby as to what will happen next!’

Someone also said this to me yesterday, given the time that is being taken to find this appointment, that this ‘shows Pompey are looking for, and are prepared to wait for a specific set up; I’m convinced they must be getting professional advice’.

It ‘seems’ that CSI very much are leaving no stone unturned and the ‘realistic’ options are seriously being explored before a final decision is made…

Anyway, going back to Coppell and the point of this!

Some of us, and quite rightly to be fair, have had some reservations over him given some of his previous during his 25-year managerial career although experience, and a decent track record when he does ‘tough it out’ has proven him to be a good manager at this, and a higher, level.

ESPNsoccernet has said the following about him: ‘Irrespective of whether he gets the job on the south coast, ESPNsoccernet understands that he has decided it is the right time to return to football management.

‘Coppell is believed to be ready to work under a chairman and board of directors who trust him and would be happy to prove himself all over again on a month-to-month basis, rather than demanding a lavish long-term deal
.’

The ‘Coppell is believed to be ready to work under a chairman and board of directors who trust him and would be happy to prove himself all over again on a month-to-month basis, rather than demanding a lavish long-term deal‘ part is particularly interesting, right?

‘If’ this would indeed be the case then would this not leave CSI in a win-win situation with him?

In fact it suits all really, would it not.

After all of this it would ‘seem’ that these thoughts are somewhat irrelevant as a new managerial team is in place?

Even if it is not yet ‘official’…

Apparently this will include Coppell in some way though, click here.
