Come on ‘Arry make that call mate!

In the main Harry Redknapp has been true to his word, ‘players will be given a chance when others stop performing’… although this isn’t entirely true in all instances – for whatever reason – on the whole he has, as said been true to his word.

Now, even more so than ever before is the time for Dave Nugent to get his chance.

By Redknapp’s own admission Kanu is looking tired – but doesn’t he always! – and although he is continuing to play well Benjani’s early goalscoring form has dried up, 1 in his last 8 proves this.

So against Reading tomorrow, with his recent substitute performances Nugent has earned his chance and must start – something Redknapp seems to be hinting at. He is fresh and wants to perform, he is straining at the leash so why not let him off it tomorrow and see where he runs to eh? He cannot do any worse than we have been doing of late can he…

To be honest I cannot see Redknapp playing anything other than a 4-5-1 tomorrow, so even with the thought that I have that I feel this wastes Benjani he needs to be in the side, so I would play him on the right if need be – as I say it wastes him to large degree but he can play the role – and try Nugent as the lone striker, he is mobile has much more pace than Kanu, is most certainly fresh and has a point to prove.

It will be a new year, lets freshen things up ‘Arry and give Nugent the chance that he has been patiently waiting for, and the chance that he deserves, no matter what his future might hold – which again I pray remains with Pompey…
