Ok, maybe some will argue that Harry Redknapp did not help himself with an interview given recently – speaking about the past, present and future – but ‘reports’ in today’s papers that he is considering quitting after the cup final are unwelcome, and indeed unneeded… In fairness he did not mention quitting anyway, far from it.

Redknapp only the other day denied these ‘rumours’ saying that he could not walk out on Pompey again – he could not do this now… So why do the papers feel the need to drag this up again? Why not just let us focus on what is important – the upcoming cup final!

Peter Storrie has issued a statement on the Pompey Site countering these allegations…

PORTSMOUTH FC STATEMENT

Portsmouth Football Club today denied a newspaper report that Harry Redknapp is considering quitting the club after Saturday’s FA Cup final against Cardiff at Wembley.

Chief executive Peter Storrie said: “This story is completely untrue. I have spoken to Harry this morning and his sole focus is bringing the FA Cup back to Fratton Park.

“Harry is an integral part of the future plans for Portsmouth Football Club and together we are looking to bring in new players to further strengthen the squad for next season.

“Inaccurate stories of this nature are an unwelcome distraction on the eve of the club’s biggest day for more than 50 years.”
