Sol Campbell, who missed Pompey’s win over Manchester United and defeat at Watford is in contention for Saturday’s home match against Newcastle United, according to the Portsmouth News today.
Campbell missed the last two matches due to an inflamed Achilles but after responding well to treatment, it is expected that he will line up against the Geordies in what is likely to be the very last chance of Pompey realising any hope of getting into Europe next season.
The fitness of Lauren and Benjani is still under review but indications are that both may well be available for selection.
