Benjani still tipped as top scorer

Benjani will still finish this season as Pompey’s top scorer! Not my vote, yours – although these findings from Et_tu_Pompeii’s poll are thoughts that I share… at the moment.

Benjani started the season like a house on fire and was previously voted the man most likely to finish our season as the top scorer, but in recent weeks the goals have dried up a bit and some of his finishing has not been ‘great’. Nevertheless he is working as hard as ever and does still look threatening so with him likely to be a virtual ever present the goals should keep coming.

I have always had faith that with the right players around him, and ideally the right striker alongside him Benjani would always score goals, so depending on who we can get striker wise in January I would not change my feeling that he will finish top scorer for Pompey.

If, however we can get a proven goalscorer arrive in January, depending on how many goals Benjani scores between now and then, along with how this striker settles this ‘newbie’ – whoever he is – could still catch and overtake him?

What the poll asked – So who now will finish the season as our top scorer?

How you voted – Benjani 61%, Muntari 12%, A new player in January 10%, Nugent 6%, Kranjcar 4%, Utaka 3%, Kanu 2%, Another current player 2%

Current Poll – The FA cup for us starts early in the new year, but how far can we go?

We travel to Ipswich in the 3rd round of the FA cup this season. We would expect to win that tie, but how far can we go, could it be all the way – this is what NinjaTim wants to know with this – ‘the way to Wembley: Does our cup runneth over? How will we do in the FA cup this season?’ Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.
