Whilst Harry Redknapp does not begrudge Darren Purse the chance of playing in the FA cup final, nor does he Cardiff playing in the uefa cup ‘if’ they beat us, he does feel the fact that the FAW’s – yep the football association of Wales’! – decision to rescind his sending off as opposed to the English FA is ridiculous.

Redknapp sees the whole situation as ‘farcical’ as he told the Pompey site: ‘anyone with any sense will have a look at the decision and realise it’s a bit strange.

‘Cardiff wanted to qualify for the UEFA Cup and I’m 100 percent behind that – they should qualify if they win the cup.

‘But how do you play in the English FA Cup and league but when you have a player sent off it goes in front of a Welsh appeals committee? How can that be right?

‘I don’t want to see the boy miss a cup final – I wouldn’t want to see anyone miss a cup final – but Andy Cole said it was the worst challenge he’d ever received.

‘We wouldn’t get any help at all. We would just get the player banned and that would be it. We`ve all got the same rules so everybody should abide by the same rules.

‘But there’s nothing we can do about it. The whole situation’s a bit farcical’.

We have spoken at great lengths about this already this week, with storagematt first bringing this to our attention earlier this week with this – click here.

Cardiff have played in the English league for donkies years, so why does the English FA not govern them? Surely if the FAW are going to take control of matters like this they should be playing in the Welsh league, not the English one…

Right, so what is all the fuss about anyway? If you have not seen the challenge by Purse then a quick search on t’internet has made this possible, so behold it in all its glory? or not as the case should be by clicking here.

Well if that is not a straight red card then I do not know what is, and to think it was not even deemed worthy of a booking!

Yet Jeremie Aliadiere got a 3 match ban for this little slap, which was then increased to a 4 match ban for the Boro appeal! You have to leave it about 25 seconds but you will then see it – click here.

Someone is most certainly having a laugh with the decision to reverse Purse’s red card but Redknapp and many of us are certainly not laughing, lets hope it does not happen but if he does play just imagine if he were to convert a penalty that won the game – and he does take penalties…
