Arnie might not be back?

Not for the first time, and to be fair not that I can blame him Arnold Mvuemba has been speaking to the French media, I would suspect that ‘Aujourd’hui Sport’ is very much French media, about his Pompey future – or lack of as the case may be…

Weighing up his options is something that the he has spoken about before and at this present time he says ‘my future is quite uncertain at the moment’ and he has ‘no idea what will happen in the next few weeks. I just want to have a break before thinking about my future.’

Mvuemba was not getting much of a look-in at all last season, then when Tony Adams took over this changed slightly, ‘slightly’ being the right word I think, before he slipped totally off the radar, but on the whole the Frenchman has not really been given much of a chance since his loan from a few years ago was made permanent so he will ‘take stock with my agent and with my club.’

When the guy arrived on loan a few years back I was impressed with what I saw of him at first, even if this was limited, so when we signed him – and for as little as around £1m if reports were true – I thought we were on to a winner!

Without being given much of a chance he could not do much, but when he was last season he looked a shadow of the player I thought he would be and did not seem to have developed as had been hoped – that said he also looked a player with a very, very low confidence level, which cannot have helped?

Looking at the squad as is I would have him very much in the 1st team picture, even more so with Sean Davis a near cert to leave, but all being well with the takeover I would expect us to look at our midfield options and bring in at least one midfielder so his chances would be limited again, right?

Depending on what does happen this summer I can easily see him leaving, but time will tell…

As for another Frenchman, although Djimi Traore actually represents Mali internationally, or did, so he is Malian – is that right?

Either way, after being desperate for a move to Birmingham he is now being ‘linked’ with a move to the rich man’s tax haven of Monaco – and he now expects to return to France this summer ‘with Pompey prepared to let him leave on a free transfer’ as sky sports put it.

‘Prepared’ suggests there was thought in the releasing him process, but I do not think this has taken much thought about letting him go…
