Another slipping away from our grasp…

A Pompey interest in David ‘Chuck’ Norris is commonly known.

The now free agent, who we tried to sign in January, has plenty of options though and the likelihood is that we will miss out on him…

Steve Cotterill made plenty of noises about wanting to sign Chuck in January, also making enough saying he wanted to come to Fratton – this interest in him remains but PFC leading this queue, ‘if’ we were, would seem to be less likely now?

According to what sky sports ‘understand’ Hull, one of the many interested in the former Ipswich captain, have made a contract offer to him.

He would be a fine signing and really strengthen our midfielder and offer another attacking threat but, and maybe I am being defeatist; I am starting to accept that we will miss out on him to be honest.

Leeds and QPR are a couple of the other clubs interested in him and I would ‘guess’, if they have not already, they will soon also make an offer to him and all the time we are left unable to put an official offer on the table to him – with him interested in joining us or not – the chances grow that we will miss out on him…

Uncertainty surround CSI’s takeover remains but with or without this a budget needs to be in place, the only reason for not starting to make moves for players – keeping within a budget on a minimum level come what may – raises the question what are the would be new owners intentions towards the manager we have in place?

It is possible that their plans do not include him, could this be preventing signatures being collected and to be fair players not wanting to put their signature in place too as they want to know who they are playing for and what the clubs future plans are…
