A man that ‘cared’…

The picture often painted of Sacha Gaydamak was one of a man that cared about the club, had our best interests at heart and wanted to offload to ‘the best people’ – of course it is too early to say that SAF is not the right person, or indeed the wrong person for that matter

Well, this image has taken a real battering with Peter Storrie’s ‘exclusive’ to The Sunday Mirror, in which he launches an attack on Sacha, who comes out of this looking even worse than some people had him pegged as being during the recent months.

I do not think that it is any secret that the vast majority, if not all of us, had a feeling – if not knew – that it was his old man that was funding him, from the off this seemed likely but the fact that Sacha’s funding dried up when his old mans also did is ‘strange’ to say the least…

Storrie of course has his own consortium lined up, a consortium that he claims would have secured our future beyond a doubt and ensured that we could go to ‘another level’, but this is where the real twist in the tail comes into it…

It is said that one of Storrie’s backers was suing Arkady, Sacha’s old man, for some £30m and due to this Sacha refused – under the orders of the boss – to sell to Storrie, even after he was removed from the group, and would ‘rather see us go into administration’ as a result!

Storrie has claimed that more than once we have been threatened with administration but we managed to avoid this with the South African Bank not doing anything to help us out – demanding full repayment of the loan taken with them.

I would imagine that Storrie is bitter, he admits as much, at missing out on taking over the club but who would benefit from this not being true – although sometimes airing linen in public does not do much to help anyone and often leaves more questions than answers, which is something we have had a lot of over the past, well basically year really!

SAF has been given a real hard time since he ‘took over’ but the impression that I get from what Storrie says I do not think we can lay too much blame at his door – ok, maybe he does not have much money, but I maintain my thoughts that he was just sticking to his guns on what he would and would not pay, Sacha – for me – was probably looking to exploit him, but he was having none of it?

I also maintain my believes that SAF is nothing more than a middle man, a deal broker, as he was at Citeh. On and off I, and others, have had these thoughts, which the guys that run Vital Pompey often share musings of behind the scenes, that he was coming in to merely move aside – some deal with Storrie, or members of Storrie’s consortium will most likely be done in time, right?

Arabians need to keep face, by completing his takeover – as he had always said he would – he does this, chances are he can, and probably will, now quietly move aside for someone else to come in, or work alongside him, to make what needs to happen with this club happen…

The future for Sacha probably is not going to be very bright as who will want to do business dealings with a guy that operates the way he has appeared to? I would suggest not that many!

So, yet another ‘legacy’ that has been ruined by lies and deception, thanks Sacha, you – well your old man – might have helped us achieve a dream but you also almost killed us, and appeared happy to do so!

Although Storrie ends by saying he is still not quite sure what the future will bring, does he mean this is a good or bad context…
