A Couple Heading To PO4?

|

Due to an increased workload and the impending arrival of my first child, free time isn’t something I’ve had much of recently.

However, having caught up with the past few days events in the Pompey world it would appear we’ve potentially got a couple of arrivals on the way to Fratton Park, one a returning face and the other joining as soon as Monday?

Earlier today I posed the question, what did we need to add to the squad? My opinion concluded a goalkeeper, central midfielder and a striker would be the areas I would be most keen on the Blues strengthening.

Anton Walkes enjoyed a successful loan from Tottenham last season, according to the News his departure from Spurs could soon be signed off, which would lead to his permanent arrival at Fratton Park.

I’d be pleased with this as I thought Walkes looked a talented footballer, who had plenty of versatility about him, looking at home in a full back role and doing a decent enough job when Kenny Jackett moved him into midfield. Therefore Walkes would be the central midfield addition, also being able to play across the backline.

The first arrival though could be Craig MacGillivray. Again in the News, it has been reported the goalkeeper is poised to join Pompey having turned down a contract at League One rivals Shrewsbury, following a play-off final defeat.

MacGillivray, 25, is a player I’ve heard of, but I can’t say I know too much about him as a footballer. I’d back the judgement of those bringing players in though and his arrival would add competition for Luke McGee, whilst seeing the Blues add a keeper with a little more experience too, which isn’t ever a bad thing.

We’ll see what the coming days, in fact, weeks bring, but it could well end with further boxes as to what we needed in the squad added ticked off?
