8 points from the first 6 games?

I would say 8 points from the opening 6 matches is what Pompey should at least aim for! Not my vote, yours in Et_tu_Pompeii’s poll – although in terms of actually aiming for this as a minimum, I would agree but still feel we could get more.

8 points from the opening 6 games would translate at 1 win and 5 draws – if we view it from an unbeaten point of view, but with us facing Chelsea and Arsenal away people are probably accounting for at least 1 defeat – and we often get beaten without even scoring at Chelsea.

United do not like coming to Fratton, so we are more than capable of beating them as we have proved all but one year during our Premiership days. We can also beat Bolton and Liverpool, who also have to come here, something they will not look forward to.

Starting well could be pivotal to our season, so with all teams being at the same stage – lack of fitness and tiredness cannot be an excuse – who knows what might happen?

We could quite possibly lose every match, but my own thinking is I would not be at all surprised to see us win the opening 3 matches, then moving into double figures for points by gaining points from the next 3 games too, not to suggest we would win all 3, but I can easily see us winning at least one of these.

I make it sound easy. Yep, it is far from it but I am being positive. But the most important thing first of all is to come away from Derby with 3 points – and this will not be easy, but it is something we should be getting.

What the poll asked – How many points will we have after the first 6 matches of the season?

How you voted – Win some – 8 points 61%, Win most – 13 points 13%, No wins yet – 3 points 11%, Disaster – nil points 9%, Win them all – 18 points 6%

Current Poll – Harry Redknapp is working hard to bring in another striker, so even assuming he does we will lose most of our striking options when the African Nations comes around, maybe even this new signing should Redknapp go African again?

How would we cope with this – should we then look to bring in a loan signing in January to cover this, if so should we look long or short term at them? Lysimachus asks the question ‘when the African Nations drains our squad, should we loan a striker for the rest of the season?’ Let the poll do the talking before we do when it finishes.

PLAY UP POMPEY!
