You’re a legend Pedro!

I do not think that my admiration for Pedro Mendes is really that much of a secret is it, I think the fella is a fantastic footballer as I have often said and is a player that I would dearly love us to hold onto for as long as we can – and all being well we ‘should’ be holding onto him for this season anyway?

He will forever be a man that has a very, very special place in all of our hearts as when all is said and done, as much as things had been a team effort had he not scored those 2 screamers against Citeh in ‘that game’ in our ‘great escape’ season – goals that really set us on our way to survival – god only knows where we would be now…

Anyway, I digress; I did not think I could like the guy anymore than I did but after last nights friendly with Exeter – which granted I cannot remember a great deal about as I had ‘1 or 2’ shandies, that OJ fella we have on trial looked handy though! – he took the time, and patience to get this photo taken with my sister-in-law to be.

Sue & Mendes

Ok, players have their photo taken with people all the time, its no big deal, but the thing that made this even more memorable and showed what a top man he is was the fact that my brother was busy taking other photos on his phone when Sue went for this photo so he did not get this the first time. Rather than move onto someone else, or just get on the team coach – as he had been trying to – as the apologies were issued to him for the hold up he just said it was not a problem, not to worry about it and was happy to wait whilst he got things sorted for the photo.

In all fairness most the players had time for the fans last night, signing autographs, taking photos, shaking hands and all that but his patience and willingness to spend the time with us and others made the whole night even more worthwhile. I also got to shake the great mans hand and my drunken words were ‘you’re a legend Pedro!’ I might have just imagined it, but I think he said ‘thanks’ in reply…
