Pompey needs to improve on the strikers that we have! Not my vote, yours – although these findings from muffdaddy1983’s poll are thoughts that I do share, but maybe not exclusively.
Little surprises eh, but most think that we need to get a new striker to improve our squad, which yes I would agree with, however in terms of the formation which we are currently playing would this really be beneficial?
Even playing 4-3-3, as with a 4-5-1 formation we are only playing one out and out striker so I cannot fully understand what the benefit of signing a striker would bring? He would have to be a real – and I mean real – goalscorer to be the one striker selected wont he – and ahead of anyone we currently have at that.
To be honest with Benjani, David Nugent and Kanu I would say we have enough even taking into account the African Nations if we carry on with the current formation. So in order to fully justify a new striker in January my own thinking is we would have to go back to a 4-4-2 to fit not only him in, but also one of the 3 out and out strikers we currently have?
