Introduction

To be honest with you none of us really know what to expect this summer do we? We can only ‘hope’ that this or that will happen, so we only really have hope, right?

Clearly our priority is to see us taken over, and by someone who will hopefully ‘do right by us!’ Granted this will be a businessman or businessmen who WILL want some return on this investment, that is football for you! But they do not need to fleece us for all they can!

All in all, like I say, this is going to, in many ways basically be ‘guess work’ and maybe some will be more ruled by the heart more than the head, also A LOT will depend on things such as Uncle Avram staying or not I guess…

The guy has been truly outstanding for us, yep he has made the odd costly rick but if you could not count these on one hand I would be surprised! Now try counting the number of times that he has saved us, in fact forget it, it would take too long…

Could his England career go on beyond South Africa?

In all honesty it should not as you would hope, from an England point of view, that another keeper would be taking his throne, sooner rather than later. Then again he will ALWAYS make himself available for England as long as he plays, so never say never.

Will he stay or will he go?

Undecided, although I think he would stay – given the chance…

As above I do not know what to feel on this one to tell the truth, although I HOPE he does stay, and think he would.

He has ‘hinted’, more than once and sometimes more strongly than others, at staying and in all honesty he could still do a job at a premier league side, so staying at that level would not shock me, but here’s the thing, he knows that we appreciate him and he us. He is happy and settled where he is so why change?

Yep he is out of contract this summer but if he wants to stay and he would drop his wage demands then why not keep him? Did the fact that he would not do this for a move to Stoke in January suggest, with the benefit of hindsight, that he had no intention of leaving as he did not want to?

I hope he does stay, and I have for sometime had this ‘sneaky feeling’ that he will – my biggest concern is that he will not be given this chance as once his contract is up that is that, no negotiations will take place, he will merely be released at the end of his deal and snapped up by someone else…

The claims are that ‘new deals’ will be spoken about on a player by player basis but as said I just have this feeling that a decision could well be made before any talks take place – which, for me makes little sense. Offer something like 50%, or whatever seems ‘fair’, less wages and see what they say? If they decline let them move on to see who comes in with a counter offer?

Another option, given his thoughts about this, could be a player-manager offer should Uncle Avram leave? If he does not a player-coach position would not go a miss, right, and would be a good thing to offer and see him among the candidates to eventually take on the top job here…
