Who we gonna get?

‘On paper’, not that this counts for much, the squad that we currently have is a pretty decent one – for whatever reason, in many ways, we are performing below the levels that you would expect really, right?

Michael Appleton has only had one game in charge, to judge him would be ‘unfair’ to say the least?

What I would say he, and we, found out at the weekend – once and for all in our case I guess – is that some players, pretty clearly, are not willing/able to perform for PFC, so if they are not up to it lets bring in others that are!

And by ‘bringing them in’ I do not necessarily mean signing wise.

We have a small squad but one that still has a few ‘on the fringes’ so I have little doubt that Appy will be willing and able to bring some, if not all, of these in if he feels it will benefit us.

The youngsters, albeit exactly that ‘youngsters’ and ‘inexperienced’ are players that I feel he will be willing to give a chance, he has pretty much admitted as such with his unwillingness just to bring in players to ‘make up the numbers’ as the younger players can/will be used for this is need be.

Although recruitments ‘signing wise’ is something that he has got one eye on as he also admitted as much in this area at the weekend – he would like to bring in a player or two on loan if he can?

With the emergency loan window closing at 5pm on Thursday he has little time to move, although he does have ‘players in mind’ with The News, and other papers, under the impression that Marc-Antoine Fortune could be one of them?

This is a striker that has done well in the past but seems to have totally lost it in the past year or so, going from a regular – and highly rated and sought after – striker with The Baggies to a player loaned to Celtic and not exactly doing much in Scotland either.

If he can improve us in the striking department so be it!

Another striker mentioned has been his West Brom teammate Roman Bednar, but ‘apparently’ a loan move elsewhere has already been lined up for him?

It ‘seems’ likely that business will be done with West Brom, if funds enable this, but it is not limited solely to deals with him former club according to Appy.

Providing the funds are available if we could bring in a player or two on loan before the deadline on Thursday then it would be good, and would also – I would hope – act as a ‘wake-up call’ to some of those that think they can just stroll about the pitch and not put in the graft that is needed from them!

There is a new manager in place now, and ‘if’ he follows through with his threats he will not be afraid to make changes.

I certainly do think that some need that wake-up call, if they are not in it for the long haul with PFC then the sooner they are moved on the better…
