Steve Coppell has told Pompey fan`s you don`t scare us!
“It’s a great atmosphere down there,’ said the Royals boss. ‘Pompey fans are so passionate but all these Premiership grounds are like that. But it’s not something we’re frightened of. We can cope with it.’
‘I was never there as a player, although I’ve been there a few times as a manager with Crystal Palace and Brighton,’ he explained.
‘I’m not sure what my record is but Pompey is always a difficult place to go in terms of the football they play. It’s one of the few remaining old grounds and there’s a lot of character to it.
‘The fans get right behind their team but it’s nothing we’re not used to. The dressing rooms have probably remained unchanged for many years. But we’re not yet in the footballing elite where we can complain about things like that.’
Coppell on his team line up: ‘A lot will depend on how people are after the Liverpool cup game. I’ll see what’s available and go from there. But Graeme Murty has no chance.’
