Villa in for Pedro Mendes?

The transfer window is shut, with it not opening again until January but this does not stop the transfer rumours from going on, with the latest word from the Sun being that Villa will offer £3m to prize Pedro Mendes away from Pompey.

You get rumour after rumour, with so few actually coming off, but Villa were said to have been in for him during the summer so I am slightly worried that this could have some backbone to it – although I very much hope not.

Mendes has found it tough to get into the side this season, with Harry Redknapp more often than not taking the ‘pace and power’ route, something that he really believes is essential to push us on, so this could cost arguably our most creative influence in midfield his place at the club?

Since the infamous Ben Thatcher incident he has not quite been the same player, which is understandable, had someone basically assaulted me I would have been more than a little shaken up and psychologically harmed without doubt, the second ‘targeting’ from another Man City player at the time – Joey Barton – must have also shaken him a little.

He returned for the league cup tie with Burnley last night and although he did not have a bad game, it was not one of his better and he seems to be lacking, maybe this is confidence, a lack of football, or still some after affects of the above mentioned attacks?

Either way I would be completely devastated if Redknapp allowed a truly classy player to leave, particularly for such a paltry sum of £3m, what about you? – However I do have this worry that he could well be offloaded…
