Famous for eliciting emotional responses with his final killer question Chix once again goes undercover. This time it’s the turn of Vital Wigan’s ‘Worbo’. What will he have to say about Pompey, The Latics and tomorrow’s game and how will he respond when Chix’s questions him on his favoured sport ? Read on to find out

Tell us a little about yourself (How long have you been supporting Wigan, do you attend The JJB on a regular basis etc?)
I have been a Latics supporter all my life, attended my first game in 1972, FA Cup 1st round game Vs Halifax Town, we won 2-1 at Springfield Park, our old ground been hooked ever since.
I am a season ticket holder, have been for the past 5 years and not missed a home game since 13th November 2001, it was a Tuesday night and we beat Stoke 6-1 at the JJB, where was I? I was filming my 15 minutes of fame, I was a contestant on the Weakest Link that day, and I almost didn’t go.

What is your greatest moment as a Wigan fan?
Two great moments June 1978 election to the football league, what a feeling that was and 9th May 2005 beating Reading 3-1 to finish runners-up in the Championship and gain promotion to the Premier League, still get butterflies thinking about that day

Who is your favourite Wigan player of all time?
There have been loads of hero’s down the years, Bobby Todd, Les Bradd, Peter Houghton, Tony Kelly, David Lowe more recently Andy Liddle, Jimmy Bullard and of course Arry DeZeeuw but for me it has to be Roberto Martinez. We were bottom of the old third division when Bob came to the club and he was simply awesome, he was Wigan Athletic, he dominated the Latics midfield and if he had been a tad quicker he would have been a top division player without any doubt

What do you consider to be Steve Bruce’s and the Wigan’s board priorities this season?
Avoid relegation and then build from there, so 48 points and a cup final would do me

Is Bruce capable of getting you into the Top 10?
Absolutely, we have got a good team together at Latics, don’t let the recent run fool you, two of those games, Boro at home and Liverpool away we should never have lost, ok we got trounced 4-0 by Villa but that flattered them, the game at Fulham was poor, they are a poor side and still beat us, once we get our season back on track with a win on Saturday we will be fine.

Early days I know, but who would you consider to be your best summer signing?
Amr Zaki without a doubt, he is awesome, a blood and thunder centre forward, never stops chasing and shoots for fun, he’s got pace, strength, bags of skill and a desire to do well

Do you think you`ll manage to keep Zaki come January?
Word is that he will be signing in December, our chief executive officer has started the deal moving last week she went to Cairo to meet with Zamalek, Zaki’s Egyptian club, representatives, or maybe she just did a bit of shopping, you know what these women are like 😉

If you could pick one Pompey player to play for Wigan who would it be, and why?
Peter Crouch, why? Because he is ace, he is a top player and causes loads of problems for opponents and he is also very skilful

Have you been to Fratton Park before and if so what did you think of it?
No I haven’t sorry to say, so I won’t pass comment even though I have had some reports that it doesn`t favour the away support

What’s the one song we are guaranteed to hear from your travelling supporters on Saturday?
I’ll give you two
‘We come from Wigan and we live in mud huts’ (Chant)
‘One nil to the Wiganers, scored by an Egyptian’ (to the tune of ‘Walk like an Egyptian’)

Which Wigan player can do Pompey the most damage on Saturday and why?
Zaki obviously because he will score, look out for Antonio Valencia as well, pace to burn

Conversely, which Pompey player do you feel can do Wigan the most damage on Saturday?
Peter Crouch, hard to handle for defenders

Realistically, what do you expect the score to be?
I would love to say 1-2 but realistically I’m going for 1-1, we will play it tight, maybe 4-5-1

What are your hopes for this season? (What would you class as a success or disaster)
Hopes are top 10 and a Cup win, similar to you lot last season
Disaster would be relegation and to be honest if we went down there would be no coming back

Where would you expect to see Pompey finish come May?
I expect a mid-table finish for you lot this season though I can see you changing your manager again to achieve that.

Finally, honestly, do you prefer Rugby?
I ain’t even going to answer that question you know it winds us Latics up to talk about them.
Did you know that over 60% of their supporters come from outside of Wigan, they are the Man U of the Rugby world, also 75% of their supporters are over the age of 65 so I can see them closing down in 15 years or so.

The JJB was built as a football ground and they lodge there. They recently had to move a play-off game to Widnes because we were due to play at home 2 days later
You can stick you rugby where the sun don’t shine.

Didn’t Peter Crouch play for Southampton? Was that when Harry Redknapp was manager of the Saints?

Sorry about that I feel better now 😉

Well Worbo your response to my final question was even better than I had imagined the best of the season so far.

My thanks for your thoughts and comments ahead of tomorrow’s game. Much appreciated.

So, Worbo reckons The Latics will take a point tomorrow and that Tony Adams won’t see the season out

Post your response below, Ladies and Gentlemen please.
