The time is here… almost!

The greatest moment in most, if not all of our Pompey supporting days is just about here – the FA cup final, and does it get much better than this…

Pompey in the cup final, something that most of us could, and have only dreamt about over the years is about to become a reality when at 3pm tomorrow afternoon we take to the field to battle it out with Cardiff to be crowned the best team in the worlds premiere knockout competition.

Yep, we have known for several weeks that we were going to be in the cup final, and the form on the whole since we made it through has shown that the players had become well aware of this too with little or no chances taken as a chance to miss out on this showpiece event was not wanted – but the reality of exactly just what we are about to embark on has 100% without doubt sank in for me this week.

My whole life I have watched the FA cup final, taking in the hours of build-up and then enjoying – or not as is often the case – the cup final itself, always dreaming that I would one day be able to see Pompey as one of the sides on that day? Even with our growth over the past few years, as much as the hope become more and more a possibility I still did not fully believe that we could do it – but we have, so lets enjoy and revel in it.

The past X amount of weeks are all forgotten now, we go in with a clean slate and we will win… I am not saying this with me expecting a win as Cardiff are ‘only a Championship side’ I am saying this as I have full belief that we will go on and lift the cup to compensate in some way for our disappointing end of season form.

I had some lingering doubts that perhaps we would lose, and although I am still concerned as to who might score the goal(s) as we do not look like scoring, and who the creative influence might be, as again we have not seen a lot of this recently we will finish the job and as I say these lingering doubts are now gone – they went on Sunday after the Fulham game when Harry Redknapp came onto the pitch during the lap of honour to address the crowd, his words that ‘we will win the cup’ convinced me that we can and will do it!

Other than winning the league does it really get much better than the cup final?

I am excited, expectant but most of all relishing the day out at Wembley, seeing the players walking out on the turf in their suits, taking to the pitch for the anthems and the thought of seeing Pompey parading around the Wembley turf with the FA cup in hand makes me immensely proud…

Now lets go and win the cup!

Pre-match meet up

Prior to the game we also need to confirm a Vital Pompey meeting for a couple of pre-match beers?

As said before I have to meet my sister and her boyfriend, as well as several people that I have travelled to games with for the past decade or so, with these meetings scheduled to take place at The Torch, which along with the other pubs Pompey have been allocated is along Wembley Park.

Those coming in on the tube need only get off at Wembley Park Station and it is 150m away apparently. You go to the end of Wembley way – walking away from Wembley stadium – and then turn right and keep walking alongside the main road and you will find it – it will be packed out though, but then again what pub will not be tomorrow!

More details about The Torch – and its location can be found here.

The First Class Sports Bar is another being mentioned by some people, which is also along the same route, but in fact even closer to Wembley stadium than The Torch!

I am almost certain The Torch is where I will be though, so anyone who wants to meet up just give the word, if you have my contract details you know what to do, if not just ask or contact someone else that is going who most probably will.

PLAY UP POMPEY!
