The future looks very bright! Well at least the weather next week does, for Pompey it looks very scary right now, more threats of liquidation and a team of youth players and trialists.

Gib won this match 4-0, they celebrated like it was the champions league final after the game, Pompey were a scalp, even if it was a Pompey team just by name, us fans would of wished for a little more, the team itself pinged the ball around ok at times, the plastic surfave looked a bit bobbly to be fair, but 4-0 is still 4-0, and against a team that is probably on par with Havant or even Gosport Borough!

The only two players to start the game under contract were Webster and Magri, Harris joined the fray in the second half.

Howard, Macleod and Gillet were a couple of familiar names trying to earn a contract, none shone particularly brightly, but then again who did?

The first goal was a blinder, sreamed in from distance, Eastwood in the goal grasping at thin air as it whistled past, up to then it was fairly even, but soon after it was 2, a gib bloke went down in the box, Lopez the culprit and the penalty was converted nonchalantly.

So half time arrived and the players trudged off to be replaced by some burly looking cheerleaders, maybe we should of left a couple out to provide some muscle!

The second half was a similar pattern, Gibraltar were obviously more familiar with both the conditions and the artificial pitch, Pompey looked like a team thrown together, the worst thing I noticed was a negative body language, slumped shoulders and no captain figure to gee people up.

It was 3 soon enough, this time a wicked deflection saw sub ‘keeper Preece beaten, the small partisan home crowd were delirious.

Pompey had a couple of sniffs, Dan Thompson getting into good positions but first being caught offside and then hitting the ‘keeper.

Gibraltar were to rub salt deeper into the already mortally wounded Pompey, adding a fourth to see the game out.

Pompey have a hell of a job to raise their game to play Brighton in Spain on tuesday, Appleton’s task looks more chasmatic everyday, if he can pull it off the bloke deserves a Rockyy Bilbao type statue in the Guildhall!
