Talking Peter Crouch with Gerry Ormonde

With Peter Crouch being heavily linked with a move away from Liverpool, with Pompey a possible – in fact probably – destination I thought I would ask Gerry Ormonde from Vital Liverpool a few questions on the mater – this is what was said…

  • I think it is now fair to say that Crouch will leave Liverpool this summer right? Is this a setback or has it been accept by the scousers?
I think we accepted that he would be going for a long time now. But we will be sorry to see him go. He’s a very good player, a lot better then some people give him credit for and he has always giving us 100% on the pitch. He will be sure to get a big reception from The Kop whenever he returns to play at Anfield.

  • Rafa had asked £15m, which given the state of his contract is ‘optimistic’, so what do you realistically think it will take to get him?
I think £12million would be a realistic price, but somewhere between £10million and £12milion will probably be what we end up with.

  • Do you think Pompey are the club that will get him, if not who will?
I hope Pompey get him. You guys have been making some great progress recently and I think Crouch and Defoe would be a good strike partnership for you.

  • Whilst we are talking, what are you expectations for Liverpool this season?
I’d like to be able to say that this will be definitely the year that we win the Premiership, but I’m just hoping we can put in a sustained challenge at the top, and if we’re still there or there-abouts come March/April time, we’ll see what happens. If we can’t win the Premiership, then I guess we’ll just have to settle for the Champions League again!

Good luck to you guys next season.

Thanks to Gerry Ormonde for answering these.
