Take it or leave it!

Yep I know, Pompey are hardly in a position to be that ‘picky and choosy’ about things but the way I see it a contract has been offered, if the person wants to stay that badly then sign it, right?

Of course it is not quite that simple but I guess you get my point…

I am talking about Marko Futacs by the way!

His agent, as agents do, has been talking about his clients future today, you know the usual ‘he wants to stay’ etc. etc. the fact that he has been ‘offered a little less money and conditions’ means that he is ‘thinking about’ things…

I appreciate that Portsmouth Football Club is hardly stable, so its not a cut and dried decision to make as such but he has been offered a new contract, which others were not, so quite clearly he is someone that Appy wants around.

I can also appreciate that he wants to play 1st team football, but I do not think that anyone should be assured a 1st team place, so if he wants this he is asking too much, not just here but anywhere.

The guy is a decent enough prospect, and on the right money I would not hesitate in keeping him – a move has been made early to make this happen, unless his wages have dropped beyond a realistic amount then should there really be that much of a problem?

Call me cynical but I would guess his agent is touting him around, with it ‘said’ other clubs are interested, in the hope that someone comes in and offers him more money! If that is the case then I would sooner he did move on.

Like I said to start with we cannot be too picky or choosy and, as they say, beggars cannot be choosers but I think Futacs and/or his agent needs to realise that we are talking ‘take it or leave it’ as there is little, if any, room for manoeuvre as far as money goes…
