Sunday morning blues are here again and it is my job to try and pick up the spirits which will not be easy but that won`t stop me trying!!
Nil point
French accent required there please. Well another game, another blank we scored twice but should have scored several more and that is where the problems started. Chances were missed and the confidence ebbed away. The strange changes in the second half did not help as the team lost all its shape and the end was inevitable.
The solution? Well the window has shut so the coaching staff have to work of a system and getting the players familiar with it and themselves. Yesterday Jamo, Billy Belhadj and Janice Kaboul seemed to only want to pass to each other rather than the new boys. The diamond system also exposed Billy`s defensive frailties.
MOTD2
Well set your videos for tonight as the Vital Pompey crowd are on MOTD2 again. Yes for the third year running the Beeb have come calling and we were only too pleased to oblige.
The thing is they only turn up when we are down on our luck and we have to try and put a brave face on things. The first occasion was in December 2007 when we were winning away games but could not score at home. The result Pompey lost 1-0 to Spurs and Jamie O`Hara and Prince Boateng played for the visitors.
The next visit was to be Tony Adams last game when we went down 3-2 to Liverpool last season. In fact Adams sacking was announced during the programme and Paul and Chix were made to look a little silly except for Chix telling Adrian Chiles ‘You`re going down Adrian!` talking of course about the Baggies.
As to yesterday`s filming well we have not seen the final cut until tonight but it was upbeat before the game with Chix, Paul and others trying to make the nation aware that there is life on the South Coast, after the game well watch for yourselves. But why is it that every game they have featured we have lost in the last few minutes?

A little snippet has just crossed the desk and that that long time Pompey target and big bones Mark Viduka’s agent has confirmed that the large striker is heading home to Australia to live.

That then reminded me of a random quote that I put on the forum some time ago by the said Mark Viduka: ‘I would not be bothered if we lost every game as long as we won the league.’
Bomb`s away
I was relieved yesterday when I at last discovered that despite the rumours the bomb netted of Gilkicker Point was not in fact hooked by Vital Pompey`s resident fishing expert sea-juicer. Although Rob did say that it would have been a money-spinner if it had.
Pompey Virtual Alliance
Well we had our first meeting with Chief Executive Peter Storrie yesterday before the game and it was attended by representatives of nearly all the Pompey fans sites and forums. We will give more details of the meeting and the future when we have had time to digest it but we did get to ask a few questions and one received an answer which will please one member.
Pompeycarpet asked us to quiz the club on Student discounts and I asked Storrie about it. His reply was that they were working with the University on several projects and one of them involved sponsorship of the Athletics club in return the Uni would help introduce a discount scheme for full time students. More details will follow.

Last week we told you that Farsley Celtic had been closed by their administrator, Mazars. However they were subsequently saved by club President, John Palmer and their game with Stalybridge Celtic went ahead and a crowd of 406 attended. Do they call that the Celtic derby?
Elsewhere in the lower Conference leagues we noticed that Havant and Waterlooville had an attendance of 1,217 no doubt swelled by all the Pompey fans that had no game and/or a free ticket with their membership. Well done the Hawks
Better news for Weymouth as their administration has been delayed for one week after uptake of their 100 club was well almost fully subscribed! I wonder is ITV football pundit extraordinary Andy Townsend has put his hand in his pocket as it was the Terras that paid a five figure sum to Welling United which kick started his career won him seventy Irish caps and put him where he is.
After yesterday’s games Farsley and Weymouth now sit at the bottom of their respective leagues.
Will the media ever get it right?
Among the headlines we read at the beginning of the week was this ‘Glen Johnson could cost England the World Cup!!!` Did they think that he still played for Pompey and they could join the anti blues lobby that has been rife in the last few months? Well sorry we sold him to Liverpool and his defending was fine when he left and that is the most ridiculous headline I have ever seen. Has he given away a last minute penalty in the final?
Well the British press never ceases to amaze me. Slaven Bilic spends large amounts of time trying to wind up the England team so how do the press do in return? Yes that`s right they wind up the England team too. Is anyone on their side?
After the game of course they all crow about the performance but should they look themselves in the eye and admit they should not have done it? Will they ??? No and they will be sharpening their quills and preparing for the summer in South Africa.
