Late on parade!! Apologies to early morning readers but have been out celebrating Pompey`s farewell to the Premier League! The game was won in some style but oh dear Wolves did look poor and will certainly struggle next season without a massive overhaul to their squad.
The Wolves fans struck up a chant of ‘Craddock for England` I assumed they were talking about Fanny rather than their ponderous centre back Jody?
Of course the question on most fans lips after the game was how many of the Pompey side yesterday will never pull on the blue shirt again? But the three points lift us to eighteenth in the table with the nine points intact.
Charity begins at home
Hats off to all the fans who got involved with clearing some of the clubs charity debts. Their work was remarkable and should have earned a lot more than the rather damp reaction given by the national press.
Pompey fans are proud of their club and felt cheated by the powers at the club who had decided to pay other bills before passing on money promised to charitable organisations. The clubs name has been tainted forever and this has helped improve the ‘feel good feeling`
On the subject of the Administrators it has been an ‘interesting` week in the relationship between UHY and the fans representatives. It all started with a email exchange between the fans where they made it clear to each other that they were not happy with the progress of Administration and wanted to take action.
Eventually a form of words was put together by Mike Hall and with agreement of the majority was sent to Admin Andy with a demand of answers within 36 hours. Well the outcome was a clear the air meeting yesterday which last almost two hours and I am glad to sat diplomatic relations have now been restored.
Because of the short notice I could not get to the meeting but when get the notes I will give you a fuller report.
Mike Oldfield`s Portsmouth is going to #1 but only if we all download it in the coming week that starts tomorrow.
Unwanted guest
We had a thought about inviting Stan ‘the Man` Collyflower to be guest editor of Toast this week!! He spent early parts of the week telling talkSPORT listeners that Pompey should be thrown out of the FA Cup and we wanted to line him up for a ritual slaughter.
Collyflower said: ‘Portsmouth’s debts are so shocking they should be stripped of a place in this season’s FA Cup final. ‘I was appalled to read the astonishing list of Pompey’s creditors after they went into administration earlier this term. I now think the situation is so grave that Portsmouth need to be made an example of. So how can it be fair that a team full of players they couldn’t afford can represent them in one of the world’s great showpiece matches?
The next thing we will learn is Stan believes that all Vital Pompey members are to blame for the state of English football and they should be deported, exported or something else rather nasty.
Bargain buy
You should always but memorabilia when the time is right. Now with a football club that means when they are playing badly or after a disastrous result.
From a Pompey point of view the worst result in the last ten years would be the 4-1 defeat by Leyton Orient in January 2002 and it was after that game that Eastney local boy Steve picked up a real bargain. He had for many years fancied a PFC number plate and a friend had a old Mercedes with such a plate.
On the way back from the game his friend turned to Steve and said ‘do you still want that plate?` Steve readily agreed and bought the plate, his crest fallen mate threw in the car with it!!
The Final – build up
The players and officials Cup Final suits are arriving and I gather they are a gift form Jasper Conran (I think). But not everyone will get one apparently as there are not enough to go round!! Needless to say therefore a few players are more than a little unhappy.

15th May – Cup Final Day – has been a date Pompey have not played on too often. In fact my research shows only twice. The first was back in Division Four in 1979 and the visitors to Fratton Park were local neighbours Aldershot in a game postponed earlier in the season by the Shots FA Cup run that took them to Round Five.
In a tame end of season affair Colin Garwood gave Pompey an early lead and John Dungworth equalised on half time with his thirty fifth goal of the season – the crowd was just 6,238.
Three years later and Swindon Town were the Third Division visitors at the end of another season that had produced nothing. This game was rather more notable as a it featured a Jeff Hemmerman hat trick against a ponderous Robins defence. In fact Swindon were relegated that season – the crowd was just 6,372.
Just two games and I was at them both!! Game three comes at Wembley and the crowd will be slightly larger and the occasion probably more memorable.
