Smith on his way to Rangers?

Image for Smith on his way to Rangers?

Conspicuous by his absence on Monday night, when we faced Stevenage in the league cup, was Tommy Smith.

Jokingly I recall that some of us there said ‘he is being sold then’, and joking is all that we did think it was as ‘being rested’ was something we thought, or at least hoped, was more likely…

Although it now appears that Smithy is indeed on his way as Rangers have returned for him.

A ‘derisory offer’ of £300,000 was rejected earlier in the summer but it has now been confirmed by Admin Andy that talks are ‘on going’ with the Scottish club for the 30-year-old.

I would like to keep him, although literally everyone does have a price and ‘if’, which I doubt, we could get the ‘reported’ £1.5m for him from Rangers then in all honesty that is not a bad deal is it?

Then again Pompey and ‘good deal’ do not often go in the same sentence do they…

I must remember to pack my boots before I get on the train on Friday night, as there seriously is a good chance I could get on the bench, at least, this weekend against Reading!

One player that ‘might’ arrive though, after some ‘will he wont he’ thoughts is Anthony Vanden Borre. ‘Word on the street’ is he has a ‘flexible plane ticket’ book, although Pompey is not his ‘preferred choice’ of a move by all accounts…
