It has rumbled on for a number of weeks now, with Peter Storrie saying back along ‘there was a deal to be done’ with the Argentinean international striker Javier Saviola.
To be honest few of us believed it, but this ‘sensational swoop’ – as The News calls it, which to be fair I do not think is overdoing it – could well just come off you know guys and a 6-month loan deal from Madrid is said to be inching ever closer.
In fact The News says that Saviola could be paraded as a new signing at Fratton tonight ahead of the game with Villa…
We need a world-class spark to lift the players, the fans and the club in general, and should we pull off this remarkable deal, which seemed almost unthinkable, then this would do exactly that!
Tony Adams has also revealed that he was in the running for Emile Heskey, but Villa beat him to his signature…
