Not for the first time Harry Redknapp has sung the praises of hat trick hero Benjani with what he told The News after his treble earned us victory yesterday: ‘it was good to see Benji get those goals.

‘It’s hard to believe he is the same player who had that diabolical goal record when he first came here.

‘He is a brilliant lad. He never moans and he is hard as iron.

‘He plays when he is injured and he works his socks off. He’s a great lad’.

And to think some people had questioned his ability after the Sunderland game, with it even claimed that he ‘must be sold’… everyone has a bad game or two, that was his. But in fairness who did play well that day?

I cannot say anything more about Benjani as I have literally shared these views and waxed lyrical about him a thousand times before, I will simply leave it at what Redknapp has said and turn the floor over to you fellas again to praise away!

One thing that I will say though, it once again showed just how much more effective that he is when played through the middle… yep, he can do the job out wide on the right but he is wasted compared to the impact that he makes through the middle.

I lied, another thing I will add is his partnership with Dave Nugent looked promising, so I would hope that this is given a little more time to flourish? I would expect this to continue against Plymouth, but the chances are Benjani will play the lone role against United at Old Trafford – and understandably so – at the end of the month.
