The Daily Star is today quoting Harry Redknapp as saying he has turned down a bigger job than Newcastle this season… and apparently since their approach earlier in the year: ‘Newcastle was a terrific job and maybe this sounds like a lack of ambition, but I didn’t want to be away from my wife.
‘It didn’t appeal to me to be stuck up in a flat and coming back down at weekends.
‘If I didn’t like her I probably would have gone. Listen, I have turned down a bigger job than Newcastle this season.
‘Only a few weeks ago, I said no because of similar reasons and, also, I don’t want to walk away from here again.’
I think that those quotes have all come from a longer interview Redknapp gave elsewhere about his past, present and future so they have been chopped to suit specific media outlets.
It is tough to know who this ‘mystery club’ could be, so far be it from me to try and speculate on who it could be, or add to a ‘frenzy’ that might build up.
It is a strange time for this to come out, but maybe off the back of the reaction he and some of the players were given at the weekend it was possibly felt it was needed to make some people start to think again? And we certainly do need him here no matter what anyone might think – well that is what I think anyway…
