Harry Redknapp has really praised up the current Pompey squad with what he has said on the Pompey Site: ‘I stand outside in training and look at the improvements that we’ve made and the players that we’ve got.

‘It’s fantastic to see the quality that we’ve got here.

‘It’s a pleasure to watch these players, people like Sylvain Distin – what a player he is.

‘We’re building a team here that’s beginning to look like a really good side’.

Clearly Redknapp is now happy with things and is seems like he is starting to believe that things are possible, well openly admit this belief which is a good thing.

I do not want to sound like Redknapp and give a ‘look where we were X amount of years ago’ but it genuinely is hard not to think back just a little over 2 years ago and think about the squad we had then – when he returned – and the direction we looked like taking, compared to the squad we have now and the direction that we are…

He is also casting his eye on FA cup glory this season, and as he told The News he feels that we have the players that are capable of going all the way, but he is also wary of the threat that Plymouth pose: ‘It would be fantastic for this club to go to Wembley.

‘And now I’m looking at my squad and believe we could give anybody a game.

‘It’s a home draw, so if we are on our games we should progress.

‘I’m not saying it will be easy. You just have to look at the last round to see that’.

Yep, it will not be easy at all but I would be bitterly disappointed if we did not progress.

If we do, with a little bit of fortune with the draw and maybe some help with results in this round the draw could really open up for us…
